Job Description: MCGP Executive Director

Job Summary:The Executive Director serves as the chief executive officer of MCGP, responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations, implementing strategic initiatives, and fostering a positive, inclusive community. The Executive Director will guide self-organizing teams, support community-led projects, and cultivate a collaborative culture. Reporting directly to the Board of Directors, this role works closely with Resident and Visiting scholars, staff, volunteers, and community members to fulfill MCGP’s mission and enhance its impact.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Leadership and Vision

    • Provide visionary leadership aligned with MCGP’s mission, values, and strategic direction.

    • Collaborate with the Board to develop strategic plans that emphasize leadership and community empowerment.

    • Empower and guide self-managed teams, ensuring their goals align with MCGP’s vision while fostering distributed accountability.

    • Develop resources and training to enhance team-led initiatives and build capacity for distributed decision-making.

  2. Operations Management

    • Oversee the administration and management of MCGP’s facilities, programs, and services, ensuring effective and efficient resource use.

    • Implement frameworks for team collaboration and cross-functional support.

  3. Financial Sustainability

    • Develop and manage the annual budget with the finance committee to ensure financial health.

    • Drive fundraising, grant writing, and partnerships to support MCGP’s growth and community initiatives.

  4. Community Engagement and Empowerment

    • Foster a sense of unity through open communication, inclusive programming, and by supporting community-driven projects.

    • Engage with community leaders, government, and partner organizations to promote collaboration and MCGP’s role as a community hub.

  5. Human Resources and Capacity Building

    • Recruit, train, and supervise staff and volunteers, emphasizing skills in self-management, leadership, and project ownership.

    • Create a positive work environment that supports professional growth and enables team members to thrive in a distributed leadership model.

  6. Collaborative Decision-Making

    • Implement processes for transparent and inclusive decision-making, incorporating input from staff, volunteers, and community members.

    • Build feedback channels to empower teams and ensure all voices are heard in the organization’s direction.

  7. Education, Outreach, and Public Relations

    • Oversee educational programs and outreach initiatives that meet community needs and foster interfaith relationships.

    • Serve as the spokesperson for MCGP, promoting its values and positive image within the broader community.
